See, think, wonder!

Today in Room 13 we used our Oral Language Program to support our writing.  It is important for Literacy acquisition that the children can talk about things they can see, discuss what they think about a topic and ask questions to find out more.  We use our "see, think, wonder" program to do just that.  We looked at a photo and together in a cooperative group, discussed what we could see, what we thought about what was happening in the photo and what we wondered, ie what we cannot see and do not know the answer to.  After that we wrote the beginning part of our story, what we could see, using "I can see....."
Here is one of the teams hard at work.....

Lola, Rosie and Jacinta worked completely independently and when they didn't
know how to write a word, they drew a picture instead.  What great initiative!  Well done girls.
Please discuss things with your children, ask for their opinion, try and find out if they know how to get questions answered and give them lots of lovely experiences so they can discover, share, learn and talk about what is happening in their lives.  Talk is sooo important.
