Shrove Tuesday

Yesterday we celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes.  Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.  It is the last day of feasting before the fasting of Lent begins.  We had some yummy pancakes and talked about Lent, Jesus praying in the desert, Jesus dying on the cross, the colour purple as a sad colour and the meaning of Pancake Tuesday.  We had a a Liturgy today for Ash Wednesday and so we also talked about the meaning of the ashes and the cross and our Lenten Promises. Ask your child about their learning, you might be quite amazed at what they can tell you.  Here they are.....
Noah was a good shaker.

We had chocolate drops and maple syrup

Xavier showed us how to be safe near a hot frying pan.

The pancakes cooked and when the bubbles came, we turned them over.

We decorated our pancakes ourselves and ate them up.  Yum, Yum.
